Keynsham grab late winner
 Women's Football News 6 Nov 2015

Keynsham grab late winner - 6 Nov 2015 - Women's Football NewsKeynsham Town made up ground on the top teams in South West Division One when two late goals saw them to a 4-3 victory away to St Nicholas in a thrilling local derby.

Keynsham were dealt a blow early on when full back Alex Newman was forced off with a bad injury but shortly afterwards, they went in front with a goal from Katie Cook, giving them a lead which they held going into half time.

After the break though, St Nicholas came storming back into the game and put themselves in front within five minutes of the restart. Recent signing Elisabeth Dale, who came on as a half time substitute, equalised two minutes into the half and then Connie Short put them ahead.

Cook brought matters level again with a header from a corner which deflected in off the unfortunate Sarah Doidge but St Nicholas still looked sharp going forward and almost went back in front when Lauren Stallard drilled a low ball across the face of goal which narrowly eluded both Amy Jefferies and Short.

The home side were not to be denied though and after more good work by Stallard, Dale slotted home her second goal on the night and they were back in front.

Keynsham piled forward but St Nicholas defended stoutly with Natalie Coles having a very good match in the centre of defence, well supported by captain Sophie Sweet. The increasing pressure was to tell though and with eight minutes left, Justine Lorton-Radburn's pass found Cook and she buried her shot past Samantha Hollis for her third goal, despite vehement appeals from St Nicholas for offside.

Keynsham were unable to take a chance shortly afterwards as Molly Blethyn fired over when well placed in front of goal whilst at the other end, Rianne Lewis drove a good effort narrowly over the bar.

As the game went into injury time, Keynsham struck a killer blow. Unsurprisingly, the influential Lorton-Radburn was heavily involved as her pass set up the chance for Pilar Garcia to fire home from the edge of the area.
