Villa players commit to club
 Women's Football News 15 Jan 2016
Katie Wilkinson is among 14 Aston Villa players already signed up for the 2016 WSL 2 season.
Last season's top scorer is joined by 2015 stars Beth Merrick and Elisha N'Dow alongside breakthrough duo Mollie Rouse and Amy West. The claret and blues are also boosted by the news that Sarah Mayling and Kerri Welsh - who both missed the majority of the 2015 campaign with ACL injuries - have also committed their futures to the club.
With his pre-season training schedule already up and running, head coach Joe Hunt is pleased to see his squad coming together ahead of their third WSL 2 term. He said: "We are very happy to re-sign these players for the new season, they are integral to what we are trying to build here at the club.
"Katie Wilkinson was our leading goal scorer last season but we both know she didn't score as many as she should. This is the most focused I've seen Katie for quite a few years, she's come back to pre-season free of any injuries and is flying now. By the time we get to March she will be even better, we always expect big things from Katie but she also expects them from herself.
"Our biggest signings this season will be Sarah Mayling and Kerri Welsh. We missed them badly last season when they got injured but now they are extremely close to getting back on the pitch. Come the start of the season we are hoping to have at least one, maybe both ready for the league opener.
"Within the next two weeks we should have nailed down all the players for the first team squad but we also have girls from our Development Team who are doing exceptionally well. It's quite an exciting time for the ladies."
Players currently signed up are Chloe Beattie, Hayley Crackle, Maddy Cusack, Hannah George, Chloe Harper, Sarah Mayling, Bethan Merrick, Katy Moran, Jessica Myers, Elisha N'Dow, Mollie Rouse, Amy West, Katie Wilkinson, Kerri Welsh.
