Brighton & Hove Albion are now eleven points clear at the top of the table after running out 4-1 winners away to Forest Green Rovers.
However the scoreline did not reveal the whole story of the game as the Seagulls were made to work very hard for the points by the home side. Deanna Cooper headed Brighton in front during the first half but five minutes after the break, Kirsty Richardson levelled the scores from the penalty spot. The impressive Jay Blackie had a goal disallowed as wave after wave of Brighton attacks were repelled by a determined Forest Green defence, well marshalled by Jodie Shepherd in the centre, but with fifteen minutes to go, Charlotte Gurr restored the Seagulls' lead following a scramble in the area. As the home side tired, Lucy Somes swept in the third and Lisa Fulgence rounded off the scoring.
Cardiff City are now heading the chasing teams, three of which have four games in hand, after they came away from Lewes with a 3-1 win under their belts. Chloe Lloyd gave Cardiff a second minute lead, with Abbie Britton and Laura Williams adding further goals shortly before half time. Sian Heather scored what turned out to be a consolation for the Rookettes midway through the second half.
