Aberystwyth Town reached the semi finals of the Central Wales Cup with a 2-0 victory away to Newcastle Emlyn.
Emlyn started off the stronger side with majority of the possession in the first 30 minutes but failed to create any scoring opportunities thanks to a solid Aber defence.
Aber's Katie White struck a wonder volley into the top right corner in the 22nd minute only for it to be ruled offside in the build up play. The Greens started to create some good scoring opportunities thanks to some slick passing by Cartwright, N.Evans and G.Hughes with the majority of the chances falling to captain Ffiona Evans and striker Ffion Wyn Roberts, but Emlyn's Carys Davies was always on hand to pile on the pressure.
It took 40 minutes before some neat play down the left hand side led to the ball ending up at Gabi Hughes' feet on the corner of the area, she struck a cross-shot which deflected into the net to give Aber the lead.
By the second half, the Green Army took control of the game and didn't look like conceding. Again, some great chances were created by Ffion Wyn Roberts. In the 80th minute, Aber pushed forward and were awarded a penalty as an Emlyn defender took out skipper Ffiona Evans in the box. Tania Wylde stepped up to coolly slot the ball home and clinch the tie for her side.
