Preston North End turned up the heat at the top of the Northern Division and went ten points clear with a 3-0 victory over title rivals Sporting Club Albion.
After a goalless first half, Danielle Young opened up the scoring on the hour mark before Chelsea Flanagan and Gemma Watson added further goals as Albion were brought back down to earth from their Cup heroics seven days earlier.
Stoke City now head the chasing teams after running out 5-1 winners away to Guiseley AFC Vixens. In what remarkably was their first league game of the year, Faye McCoy was on target twice along with Abby Hunt, Nicola Hudson and Laura Garside. Stoke have four games in hand over Preston and the sides are set to meet next Sunday.
Blackburn Rovers made sure of keeping well in contention by beating Derby County 3-1. After Melissa Johnson had given Derby an early lead, Ella Toone levelled the scores ahead of the break. Ainsley Strickland put Blackburn in front for the first time early in the second half and Toone wrapped up the points with her second, before Danielle Hill saved a late penalty.
Bradford City secured their second away in successive weeks with a 2-1 success at Loughborough Foxes. Alarna Fuller opened the scoring for Bradford in the first half and although Emma Pilling equalised on the hour, Fuller netted her second to give the Bantams the points.
