Stef Simmons scored the only goal of the game for the Addicks, who have two games in hand, with seventeen minutes remaining.
Cardiff City Ladies meanwhile received a setback as they were held to a 2-2 draw by West Ham Utd. Kerry Bartlett and Michelle Green were on target for Cardiff but Laura Curtis and Katie Bottom replied to give the Hammers a well earned point whilst the South Wales side move back into third place.
Plymouth Argyle remain at the foot of the table after they were beaten 4-2 by Tottenham Hotspur. Wendy Martin netted twice for Spurs along with Kelley Blanchflower and Bianca Baptiste, while Amber Pollock grabbed a brace in reply for Argyle.
Queen's Park Rangers are looking set for a mid-table finish as they recorded their fourth straight league win, 1-0 against C & K Basildon. A first half strike from Jo Wilson ensured that they continued their impressive climb away from danger.
