SSE Women's FA Cup - Road to the Final
For only the second time since we started the feature back in 2003, the two teams we have been following in our Road to the Final feature have been paired with each other before the quarter final or semi final stage.
Aston Villa ended the cup run of Tottenham Hotspur but they were given a scare by the FAWPL Southern Division side before eventually emerging as 3-2 winners after extra time. Indeed, Spurs twice took the lead during the course of the game through a brace of goals from Bianca Baptiste but Destiney Toussaint and Mollie Rouse equalised on each occasions to take the game into the extra period where a Katie Wilkinson penalty finally saw Villa go through to the last sixteen.
Everton meanwhile continued their impressive early form in the Cup by running out 5-0 winners over Nottingham Forest. Kelly Jones and Claudia Walker both scored for the Toffees in the five minute spell before half time and after the break, Michelle Hinnigan netted twice and Emily Hollinshead completed the scoring.
The match takes place at Sutton Coldfield Town FC (2pm) and a closely fought cup tie between two WSL 2 sides is anticipated.
