Manchester City 2 (Ross 65, Duggan pen 78) Arsenal 0
Manchester City recorded their second straight win to maintain their good start to the WSL 1 season with victory over Arsenal, who played for 77 minutes with ten players.
The Citizens were in imperious form from the start, dominating the early stages, but it was Arsenal who had the first real chance when Fara Williams crashed a tenth minute free kick off the bar.
But Arsenal were left with a mountain to climb when Jemma Rose clattered into Nikita Parris and was given her marching orders after only 13 minutes, and despite a stubborn resistance their resolve was broken just after the hour mark.
First Toni Duggan teed up Jane Ross to score her first goal for the club, before converting a penalty with ten minutes remaining to secure the win.
Duggan also hit the post just before half time, but it was brilliant goalkeeping from Sari Van Veenendaal that kept the hosts at bay after the break with outstanding saves from Parris and Kosovare Asllani.
