London Corinthians lifted the Kent FA Cup for the first time with a 3-2 victory over Herne Bay at Maidstone United's Gallagher Stadium.
The beaten finalists from last season, having disposed of holders Gillingham in an earlier round, went one better this time against their London & South East Regional League rivals in a well contested match.
London took the lead mid way through the first half with a very good first time effort from Laura Susarta on the far post from a cross from the right. They had further chances to extend their lead before the break but Bay hit back just after the restart with a lovely solo effort from Danni Farmer, making space to hit a 20-yard effort in the top corner of Katherine Long's goal.
Long changed roles to play a key part in London's win. Moving up front, it was Long who scored the crucial second after sustained Corinthians pressure. Bay keeper Sarah Cooper had made two fine saves to frustrate London attackers and the woodwork had been struck twice before Long nipped in at the near post to convert player of the match Holly Ryde's cross with under ten minutes left.
Emily Hart added a third soon after with a fine run and cool low finish on 86 minutes. Bay reduced the arrears in added time with Farmer netting from close range but there was not enough time left for an equaliser.
London Corinthians celebrated the best night in their history with England star Gemma Davison selecting and presenting the award to the player of the match but it was an all round team effort which gave the South East London club a deserved victory.
