One more win will suffice for Brighton & Hove Albion in order to confirm themselves as Southern Division Champions and qualify for the Play-off match at the end of May.
They moved closer on Sunday with a 3-1 victory over reigning Champions Portsmouth, ending their hopes of retaining the title in the process. Amy Taylor netted two early goals for the Seagulls and although Molly Clark pulled one back for Pompey, Charlotte Gurr sealed the win with the third goal on the stroke of half time.
Charlton Athletic will be hoping to captalise on any slip ups by Brighton after they beat Lewes 2-1. Sian Heather put the Rookettes in front with only two minutes on the clock, with Kit Graham equalising just before half time. The game looked to be heading towards a draw until Grace Coombs grabbed a winning goal for the Addicks deep into injury time.
Cardiff City Ladies are the other team which can still mathematically win the title and they kept those hopes alive by winning 1-0 away to Tottenham Hotspur, Alys Hinchcliffe scoring the only goal of the game.
Coventry Utd recorded a fine 5-0 victory at Queen's Park Rangers but second place is now the most they can aim for. In-form striker Maz Gauntlett netted two of Coventry's goals and there was one apiece from Jade Brook, Amber Hughes and Cristina Torkildsen.
