Long term goal achieved - Lindsey - 21 Apr 2016 - Women's Football News

Middlesbrough manager Lindsey Stephenson is naturally delighted with the team's achievement of winning the FAWPL Northern Division One title and promotion fo the Northern Division next season.
'Boro clinched the title last week with a 6-0 victory against Mossley Hill and Lindsey told Women's Soccer Scene that their success was in schedule with the club's future plans.
"This season we aimed for promotion, we set the target last season," said Lindsey. "We said during the 2014-15 season that we would aim to finish in the top five and we did, and we aimed to finish top in season 2015-16 and we have. So this has been a long term goal for the club that we have managed to successfully achieve.
"This season has been our season. We have had our ups and downs with games, we have drawn games we should have won and we have won games we should have lost, but that's football."
Manager Lindsey is assisted by coach Kelsey Bryne, the team is captained by Jade Ridley and striker Bianca Owens has had an amazing season with 45 goals to her name so far.
Lindsey insists that one spell during the campaign turned out to be a vital moment during the title race: "I think the performance that stood out for us this season was our home game against Liverpool Feds. This gave us the ground we needed on them and also made a statement to the rest of the league that we meant business and we want this title to be ours.
"We then went on to win against Hull, which was always going to be a challenging game, however again we proved ourselves.
"The fight and belief in the girls the whole season has been great. We have trained hard, put in extra sessions and hours to ensure this title was ours. We have a great backroom staff working hard every day to ensure the training sessions are of the highest standard, we have parents helping out on match days and we have two amazing sponsors in OneBoro and Amigos, without whom this title wouldn't have been possible.
"We have a great set up here which we are proud of and are delighted we could reward our sponsors, fans and families with the title win.
"We are looking forward already to next season. We will play our last game, enjoy the title win, celebrate as one big family, and head into pre-season. We will work hard to put the foundations in place for hopefully another great season of football next year for Middlesbrough Ladies Football Club."
