Liverpool 2 (Weir 16, Beer og 23) Sunderland 2 (Chaplen 31,61)
Sunderland fought back from two goals down to earn themselves a share of the spoils after Liverpool had marched into a two-goal lead at the Select Security Stadium.
Liverpool took the lead after just 16 minutes when Caroline Weir scrambled the ball in from close range after Shanice van de Sanden's shot had rebounded off the post. Things got worse for Sunderland minutes later, when Megan Beer's attempted clearance bounced over the line.
But, unlike their SSE Women's FA Cup semi final against Arsenal seven days earlier, Sunderland found a way back into the game as Brooke Chaplen ran in unmarked to nod in.
The 27-year-old then grabbed her second from Stephanie Roche's pass, which she blasted low past Siobhan Chamberlain.
Chaplen almost completed a memorable hat-trick late on, but her free kick flew inches over the bar after Gemma Bonner had fouled Beth Mead on the edge of the area.
