Villa maintain promising start
 Women's Football News 23 Apr 2016
Sheffield FC 1 (Cain 54) Aston Villa 2 (Wilkinson 26,62)
Aston Villa kept up their good start to the season in FA WSL 2 when a goal in each half by Katie Wilkinson gave them the points against newly promoted Sheffield FC.
Sheffield made the stronger start with Jodie Michalska almost getting lucky on 13 minutes when her attempted cross swerved towards goal and clattered back off the bar onto the head of Chelsea Flanagan, who was unable to turn her header into the open goal.
Villa grew into the game though and took the lead on 26 minutes when Wilkinson poked home from a corner.
Sheffield did pull a goal back on 54 minutes when Villa keeper Jess Myers dropped Hannah Cain's cross from deep into her own goal.
But Villa restored their lead seven minutes later, with Wilkinson applying the finish after Hannah Dale blocked Jade Richards' first attempt on the line.
