New London Lionesses are celebrating a memorable first season in which they have carried off the Greater London League Division Three North title.
New London Lionesses are a ladies football club based in London who play and train in Regent's Park and the surrounding areas. The club was formed in the summer of 2015 and the aim was to be the cheapest club in London offering football to as many females as possible. Since the summer they have gone from strength to strength and have a group of around 35 females of mixed ability and a variety of ages.
On the playing front, the girls have really excelled and exceeded all expectations this season. As the season progressed they have signed some super players and, they are very proud to say, were crowned league Champions in their first season as a club. Not only that, but the Lionesses have also reached the Final of the Sue Sharples Memorial Trophy, which will be played on 15th May.
The team managed to win 19 of the 22 league matches whilst keeping 13 clean sheets. It is an amazing time at the club right now and with hard work and some new summer signings, they hope to achieve more success in the near future.
The club has a superb mixed ability group led by coach and manager Glenn Shimmins (pictured) who has a wealth of experience within the ladies game.
