Oxford Utd 1 (Umotong 61) Sheffield FC 0
Oxford United picked up their first win of the season and are off the bottom of the WSL 2 table after a second half goal by leading scorer Ini Umotong gave them the points.
Sheffield will feel unlucky to have lost the game though having had the majority of the possession and goalscoring opportunities, especially in the first half.
Sherry McCue came closest to scoring for Sheffield when her half volley from the edge of the penalty area hit the post after industrious work from Ellie Gilliatt.
The game was far more even in the second half, although there were fewer clear cut chances. The deciding moment came on 61 minutes when a long punt by Oxford goalkeeper Hannah Cox found Laura Nichol on the right wing. She drew the defender and slotted the ball across the box to Umotong, who calmly stroked the ball past Juliana Draycott in the Sheffield goal.
