Gunners and Blues draw blank
 Women's Football News 1 May 2016
Arsenal 0 Birmingham City 0
Arsenal were held to a goalless draw by a resilient Birmingham City side at Meadow Park.
Despite a lack of clear chances, it was a high-octane start with Vicky Losada and Natalia on the receiving end of some tough challenges. Freda Ayisi was inches away from opening the scoring for the Blues in the 21st minute, but her effort from outside the box floated wide.
The Gunners had to wait half an hour before registering a shot, although Danielle Carter's strike from 25 yards out didn't trouble Sophie Baggaley.
A quiet first half came to life just before the break when Sari van Veenendaal had to tip Ayisi's volley onto the bar.
The Gunners started on the offensive after the break, as Leah Williamson and substitute Fara Williams tried their luck from outside the box.
Substitute Asisat Oshoala had an instant impact following her introduction in the 68th minute, ghosting into the box before firing wide of the post.
Dominique Janssen crashed a powerful free kick against the bar from 25 yards out in additional time, but Arsenal had to settle for a point in front of the 1,218 fans celebrating Girls' Football Week.
Arsenal: Sari van Veenendaal, Alex Scott, Casey Stoney, Josephine Henning, Leah Williamson (sub Marta Corredera 74mins), Dominique Janssen, Vicky Losada, Katie McCabe, Natalia Pablos Sanchon (sub Asisat Oshoala 69mins), Danielle Carter, Danielle Van de Donk (sub Fara Williams 60mins). Subs not used: Emma Byrne, Emma Mitchell, Jemma Rose, Chloe Kelly.

Birmingham City: Sophie Baggaley, Jessica Carter, Emily Westwood, Aoife Mannion, Kerys Harrop, Remi Allen (sub Jade Moore 71mins), Jo Potter, Abby Stringer, Melissa Lawley, Chloe Peplow, Freda Ayisi. Subs not used: Jade Moore, Charlie Wellings, Ash Brown, Sian Johnson, Keeley Davies.

Attendance: 1,218
