Sheffield FC's first ever appearance in the Continental Tyres Cup ended in victory as they defeated Durham Women 3-1 to reach the First Round proper.
Durham had triumphed 1-0 when the two sides had met on the opening day of the league season but this time it was Sheffield who took the lead through a strike from Emma Johnson. They held the lead until five minutes from time when Rachel Lee equalised for the Wildcats, but Chelsea Flanagan put them back in front straight away and Hannah Dale added a late free kick to seal victory for Sheffield and a First Round tie against Bristol City.
Oxford Utd and Millwall Lionesses produced an eight-goal thriller when they met in the league a few weeks ago but their Cup meeting proved to be a much tighter one.
The only goal of the game came with twelve minutes remaining when Georgia Timms, who had only been on a pitch a matter of moments after coming on as a substitute, headed in the winner for the U's who now have a plum home tie against Birmingham City.
Watford hosted London Bees with a prize of a meeting with Chelsea on offer for the winners and it was the Bees who were to defeat the Golden Girls 2-0. Ashleigh Goddard gave the Bees the lead on the stroke of half time and Nikki Watts put them in a strong position three minutes after the restart. Watts did have a penalty saved by Lucy Gillett late on but the Bees marched confidently into the last sixteen.
