Chelsea 6 (Carney 9, Kirby 29,63, Spence 37,66, Aluko 43)
Liverpool 3 (Zelem 2, Weir 55, Lundh 56)
Chelsea narrowed the gap on leaders Manchester City to three points by winning a nine-goal thriller at Wheatsheaf Park.
Liverpool took the lead through midfielder Katie Zelem's fine first minute 20-yard strike but the scores were level by the ninth minute, Karen Carney shooting home from ten yards.
Fran Kirby put Chelsea in front with an exquisite solo effort on the half hour then, eight minutes later, she set up midfielder Drew Spence for her first goal. Eniola Aluko drilled in a 15-yard shot two minutes before half time to put the Blues three goals in front and seemingly in total control.
However Liverpool his back after the break, Caroline Weir pulling a goal back direct from a 55th minute 20-yard free kick and 60 seconds later, substitute Emma Lundh, with virtually her first touch, made it 4-3.
The game swung back in Chelsea's favour when Kirby grabbed her second goal with an eight yard shot in the 63rd minute and there was no coming back for the Reds after Spence's 15-yard drive had brought her a second goal after 67 minutes.
