Birmingham City 1 (Allen 51) Notts County 0
A second half goal from Remi Allen their third win in five unbeaten matches and moved them to within one point of second placed Chelsea.
The Blues deserved the three points as they controlled the second half after Notts County had had the better chances in the first. Birmingham were indebted to an excellent save from Sophie Baggaley and a glaring miss by Aivi Luik for being on level terms at the break.
The goalkeeper reacted instantly to parry a brilliantly struck Ellen White volley in the 22nd minute. Kerys Harrop had seen an early header cleared off the Notts line by Leanne Crichton but the visitors should have led after Ellen White pounced on a rare Jess Carter error on the half hour. The ball was teed up for Luik but she steered her shot wide of a near open goal.
Six minutes into the second half, Remi Allen got the game's only goal, bundling home after Potter's initial strike was saved by Carly Telford.
