Manchester Girls have made a successful transition to senior football by winning the Greater Manchester League Division Two title.
They needed to win their last three games in order to be confirmed as Champions as duly did so, a 3-2 victory over Oldham Athletic in their final match ensuring they finished above Moorside Rangers on goal difference.
"We have had a good season by achieving the double in our league," joint manager Steve Epstein told Women's Soccer Scene. "We also entered the Holland Cup over in Nijmiigen in May and got to the semi finals.
"We have two managers in myself and Andy May as well as assistants Peter Nield and Mandy Walsh and our captain is Maisie Cole. We are a good group and look after our team similar to Leicester City's, where the team bonding and spirit is second to none.
"All of our team have shared the goals throughout the season but our top goalscorers were Sian Brady and Tess Palmer. We have been established for almost eight years now and at least four or five of these girls have been with us throughout this time, since the ages of 10-11. We also have a very good Under-14 team who will be trying to do even better than our Under-18s in the future.
"We have a tournament and, so far, three friendlies over the summer to prepare for next season, one particular game is against an American outfit on 6th July. Unfortunately we shall lose some of the girls to university, so we are on the lookout for more players to sign on."
