Glasgow City's monopoly on the major trophies in Scotland came to an end as they were beaten 2-1 by Hibernian in the Scottish Women's Premier League Cup Final.
The opening exchanges were largely even, before the game exploded into life as a Hibernian corner was cleared as far as Lisa Robertson whose powerful strike brought out an excellent save from Gemma Fay.
City went in front on the half hour from a corner of their own, Leanne Ross' kick being flicked on at the near post and Julie Fleeting was on hand to score.
Hayley Lauder went close to a second when she was denied by a good save by Jenna Fife but six minutes after going behind, Hibs were back on level terms. Kirsty Smith was brought down in the area by Savannah McCarthy and although Lizzie Arnot's penalty was saved by Fay, Lucy Graham was on hand to fire home the rebound.
After the break, a quickly taken corner almost led to City going back in front but Lauder's shot came back off the post after being set up by Erin Cuthbert. McCarthy forced a good save from Fife as City enjoyed their best spell of the game.
As the game entered the latter stages, Hibernian began to get on top and were inches away from taking the lead when Emma Brownlie struck the bar with a free kick.
Two minutes into injury time, a City corner was cleared away and Hibs immediately counter attacked. Arnot won the ball from Sarah Crilly as she tried to let the ball run out of play and her resulting cross was aimed at Sarah Ewens but went in off Fay for a goal which proved to be decisive.
