Sunderland 0 Chelsea 5 (Rafferty 29,42, Davison 44, Bright 72, Ji So-Yun 77)
Champions Chelsea stepped up their title challenge with a crushing win away to Sunderland whose worrying run without a win at the other end of the table continues.
Karen Carney set up Claire Rafferty for the opener just before the half hour, and two quick goals before half time put the game firmly in their hands.
First, Rafferty poked home her second goal after Gemma Davison's shot had been blocked, then Davison herself turned goalscorer from Ji So-Yun's cross.
In the second half, Millie Bright made it four with a strike from the edge of the area and Ji topped it off five minutes later with the final goal.
The result means that Chelsea have closed the gap on leaders Manchester City to two points and also have a game in hand, whilst Sunderland stay in the bottom two and are still searching for their first victory after eight games.
