Everton 0 Liverpool 1 (Lundh 45)
Emma Lundh's header on the stroke of half time downed a spirited Everton side as Liverpool progressed in the Continental Tyres Cup.
Krystle Johnston volleyed over in a fine opening spell for the Blues as they held their own against their WSL 1 neighbours and they should have taken the lead on 38 minutes when debutant Chloe Kelly's shot was palmed wide by Siobhan Chamberlain.
Kirstie Levell then tipped former Toffee Alex Greenwood's 25-yard effort over the bar before Lundh nodded home to give Liverpool the lead from the ensuing corner.
Substitute Rosie White should have doubled the Reds' lead on 58 minutes and keeper Levell then pulled off a superb reflex save to deny Sophie Ingle from point blank range.
With nineteen minutes to play, Ellie Stewart was shown a straight red card for a late challenge on White. Late on, Claudia Walker flashed a shot wide for Everton, but it was too little too late for the Blues.
