Yeovil Town 5 (Wiltshire 19,62, Cousins 39, Primus 46, Bleazard 60) Watford 0
Yeovil Town restored their three point lead at the top of WSL 2 after running out convincing winners over Watford at Sherborne.
The visitors went into the game buoyed by their recent victory over Everton but Yeovil were also in confident mood and produced the first chance of the game when a cross by Atlanta Primus was laid off by Nadia Lawrence for Sarah Wiltshire who fired a left foot shot over the bar.
The game was being played in a blustery wind and on a hard surface, making it difficult for the players to keep the ball on the floor. Indeed, a long ball forward led to the next opportunity, an awkward bounce beating Hannah Short and Katie Stanley nipped in behind her to take the ball on goal but she dragged her shot wide.
Watford were having a lot of possession with Ellie Mason showing up well but the chances started going Yeovil's way. Lawrence made a strong run towards goal which took her past three players before the danger was finally averted and then Primus looked certain to give Yeovil the lead as she bundled the ball past Lucy Gillett but she was foiled by a brilliant saving tackle from Mollie Burgess which somehow kept the ball out.
Helen Bleazard hit the side netting when latching onto a good pass from Ellie Curson but after a evenly contested opening to the game, Yeovil took the lead on 19 minutes. Bleazard played the ball in from the right and as the Watford defence hesitated to clear, Wiltshire stole in to poke the ball past Gillett and put her side ahead.
Primus drilled a long range effort narrowly over the bar as Yeovil began to press hard and the second goal came six minutes before half time. Bleazard's free kick into the area was headed back across goal by Short and Primus' header teed up Nicola Cousins to volley home from eight yards.
Yeovil gave a debut at half time to recent signing Danielle Carlton and got off to the perfect start as, barely a minute after the kick off, Bleazard's pass played in Primus on goal and the striker coolly tucked the ball past Gillett to put Yeovil three in front.
Watford tried to respond with Stanley sending in a shot which was saved by Beth Howard but Yeovil were sensing further goals and after having a shot blocked on the line, Wiltshire also brought out an excellent reaction save from Gillett after being set up by Lauren Townsend.
The fourth goal was not too long in coming though. Watford had been unable to contain Bleazard who had been in rampant form and she was to get herself on the scoresheet on the hour, running through on goal and burying her shot past a helpless Gillett.
Bleazard once again turned provider just two minutes later as she raced onto Lawrence's pass and rounded Gillett before unselfishly passing for Wiltshire to tap home her second against her former club.
Anne-Laure Davy fired over at the other end from Stanley's pass but Yeovil continued to attack with Kelly Aldridge having a shot charged down after cutting from the right, then Short was unlucky to see a lob headed off the line by Ruby Baxter. Short again went close with a downward header from a Bleazard corner, bringing out another good save from Gillett, but Yeovil had more than done enough to give both their points tally and goal difference a big boost.
