FA Festival heading for Lincoln
 Women's Football News 12 Jul 2016

FA Festival heading for Lincoln - 12 Jul 2016 - Women's Football NewsMore than 300 Lincolnshire school girls will get to take part in the FA Girls' Football Festival this week.

Now in its sixth year, the highly successful festivals, run in association with Continental Tyres, will take place at Rustons Sport & Social Club on Tuesday 12th July. Open from 9.30am - 5.15pm, girls from 13 local schools, aged 5-16, will be given the chance to play the nation's favourite game.

The festivals combine football, lifestyle and music, alongside a whole range of activities including batak boards, 5-a-side games, a refereeing workshop, hair braiding and face painting. There will be something for everyone especially with the FA Women's Super League mascot, Berry the bear coming to help out.

It's not just Berry coming along though, as Sheffield FC Ladies' captain Carla Ward and their goalkeeper Claire Wallhead will also be in attendance. Both players will be joining in with the girls' activities, hosting a question and answer sessions as well as offering advice to the young participants on their best training techniques and the top tips they have picked up through their professional careers.

The festivals are a perfect example of the FA's commitment to getting girls into football as part of their 'We Can Play' campaign, which focuses on getting young girls into the sport and breaking away from any existing stereotypes.

Kelly Simmons, FA director of football participation and development, said: "Our festivals, run in partnership with Continental Tyres, have been a huge success since they launched.

"One of our big areas of focus is getting more girls to play football and these festivals encourage and provide the opportunity for our young players to do so."

Festival sponsors Continental Tyres believe in the importance of grass root football, with UK Marketing Director, Guy Frobisher saying: "The FA Girls Football Festivals with Continental Tyres grows year on year, giving tens of thousands of young girls the chance to get involved with the sport. At Continental Tyres we are extremely proud that 2016 is our 6th year partnering with the FA and undoubtedly is set to be the biggest and best so far."
