Villa end winless run
 Women's Football News 18 Jul 2016
Aston Villa 3 (Merrick 26,36, Smith 62) Millwall Lionesses 1 (Fisk 1)
Aston Villa overcame an early setback to pick up the points at Stratford and register their first victory in seven matches.
Millwall enjoyed the faster start with unmarked defender Grace Fisk calmly steering her header beyond Grace Moloney in the Villa net to give them the lead in the opening minute.
The turning point, however, came in the 26th minute when Millwall guardian Sarah Quantrill allowed Beth Merrick's free kick to slip through her fingers. Merrick then produced an outstanding moment with a rising shot from 20 yards to edge Villa in front at the break.
Substitute Grace Smith scored within four minutes of coming onto the pitch for her first senior appearance to virtually clinch the points after 62 minutes - her low shot from 20 yards beating Quantrill and finding the bottom corner.
However Villa were also grateful to the inspired Grace Moloney who denied Rinsola Babajide and Charlotte Gurr from close range before topping the lot with an eye-catching save from Rinsola Babajide's sweetly struck 20-yard effort.
Aston Villa: Grace Moloney, Amy West, Maddy Cusack, Hannah George, Katy Moran, Beth Merrick, Mollie Rouse (sub Lucy Porter 58mins), Alys Hinchcliffe (sub Nicola Potts 83mins), Sarah Mayling, Kerri Welsh (sub Grace Smith 58mins), Tash Baptiste. Subs not used: Hayley Crackle, Chloe Beattie, Rubyn Tallis, Lucy Shepherd.

Millwall Lionesses: Sarah Quantrill, Jordan Butler, Leighanne Robe, Grace Fisk, Leanne Cowan, Lucy Haynes, Bonnie Horwood, Leigh Nicol (sub Ella Rutherford 45mins), Rinsola Babajide, Ashlee Hincks, Charlotte Gurr. Subs not used: Amber Gaylon, Billie Brookes, George Giddings, Lilli Maple, Megan Wynne.
