Notts County 1 (Clarke 48) Manchester City 5 (Ross 6,41, Scott 25, Stanway 45, Christiansen 74) Manchester City returned to action with an emphatic victory at Meadow Lane which ensures that they stay on top of WSL 1. The league leaders made a strong start to the game and took the lead with six minutes on the clock, Jane Ross stealing in to stab past Megan Walsh for the opening goal. A short corner led to the second goal, Megan Campbell whipping in a cross for Jill Scott to head firmly home and Ross finished off a good move, curling in from the edge of the area to make it three. City netted a fourth on the stroke of half time, from another corner which was initially headed away by Rachel Williams for Georgia Stanway whose effort took a deflection on its way into the top corner. County were given a lifeline early in the second half when Williams was brought down in the area and Clarke scored from the penalty spot. Both sides were dealt an injury blow with Abbie McManus and Fern Whelan each being stretchered off, before Izzy Christiansen crowned the win with a half volley sixteen minutes from time.
