Charlton Athletic's powerful start to the season in the Southern Division continued with a 6-0 victory over C & K Basildon which means they are the only team with six points to their name.
Last season's leading scorer Gemma Shepherd was at it again for the Addicks as she bagged a hat-trick to spearhead the victory, while Katie Flack, Kit Graham and Charley Clifford were the other players on target.
Charlton head the fledgling table by two points from Lewes, whose opening day win was followed by a 1-1 draw with Cardiff City Ladies. After a goalless first half, Kerry Bartlett put Cardiff in front after the break, before the Rookettes hit back to earn themselves a point with a goal from Katie McIntyre.
Newly promoted Crystal Palace join Lewes on four points after they won 1-0 away to Queen's Park Rangers. A tight match was settled with ten minutes remaining when Leanne Bell scored the only goal of the game.
Tottenham Hotspur meanwhile opened up their campaign by running out 4-1 winners over Swindon Town. Wendy Martin was on target twice for Spurs along with Bianca Baptiste and Nikita Whinnett, while the Wiltshire side's consolation came from Georgia Walters.
Portsmouth put an end to an emotional week for the club by recording a victory, 3-1 against West Ham Utd. Sarah Kempson scored twice and Emma Sherwood the other to earn Pompey the points, with Chloe Burr replying for the Hammers (see match report).
