Reading FC Women 0 Liverpool 1 (Zelem 85)
Katie Zelem scored a late winning goal to move Liverpool up into fourth place and keep a frustrated Reading FC Women side still looking for their first league victory of the season.
A balanced first half saw the peak of chances left to the closing stages, Laura Coombs rattling the Reading crossbar and Natasha Harding stinging Mary Earps' palms with a drive.
The second half picked up where the first had left off as Reading attacked with intent but saw a multitude of chances fail to hit the back of the net. Royals forward Melissa Fletcher's goalbound effort hit the post and was cleared off the line while Lauren Bruton missed a great chance after being fed by Fletcher.
Reading were then awarded a penalty but Bruton's tame effort was saved easily by Siobhan Chamberlain.
Liverpool's winner arrived with only five minutes remaining, substitute Zelem firing a bullet header past Earps. The Reds held on for the win and closed the gap to third placed Arsenal to only a point.
