Blues through to Final - 4 Sep 2016 - Women's Football NewsLondon Bees 0 Birmingham City 4 (Linnett 26, Harrop 54, Wellings 84, Davies og 90)
Birmingham City are through to the Continental Tyres Cup Final for the third time in six years after seeing off the challenge of WSL 2 side London Bees at The Hive.
The Bees' cup run, which included a shock victory over Chelsea in the last sixteen, has lit up the competition but they found Dave Parker's side too strong on the day.
Birmingham picked up the initiative from the start and carried the game towards the home side and were rewarded in the 26th minute when Emily Westwood's cross was met by a stooping header from Kirsty Linnett for the opening goal.
The Bees kept themselves in the game until half time but were dealt a huge blow when losing captain Ashleigh Goddard to injury. Within ten minutes of the restart, they were given a mountain to climb when Kerys Harrop doubled the Blues' lead by heading home an Andrine Hegerberg corner at the far post.
The result was put beyond doubt when Charlie Wellings fired home an unstoppable shot from 30 yards with six minutes remaining and in injury time, the fourth goal came when Bethan Davies failed to hold a Hegerberg corner and the ball dropped into her own net.
Birmingham City will therefore await Sunday's second semi final between Manchester City and Arsenal to discover their opponents in the Final.
