Everton step up challenge
 Women's Football News 11 Sep 2016
Everton 3 (Walker 28,67, Hinnigan 62) Oxford Utd 0
Everton narrowed the gap on the top two in WSL 2 as they eased to a three-goal victory over Oxford Utd.
Everton went ahead in the 28th minute when Claudia Walker bundled home Chloe Kelly's cross and it should have been 2-0 before the break but both Walker and Rosella Ayane failed to make the required connection from twelve yards.
Oxford's spark of hope was extinguished four minutes into the second half when the ball found its way into the net from Lauren Allison's crossed free kick, only to be ruled out for offside.
The Toffees then struck twice in five minutes midway through the second period with Michelle Hinnigan doing well to volley home Ayane's cross before Walker shot into Demi Lambourne's top corner on the turn.
Everton: Kirstie Levell, Vicky Jones, Georgia Brougham (sub Ellie Stewart 83mins), Gabby George, Danielle Turner, Michelle Hinnigan, Megan Finnigan, Rosella Ayane (sub Lauren Davies 86mins), Kelly Jones, Chloe Kelly (sub Krystle Johnston 87mins), Claudia Walker. Subs not used: Alex Brook, Jenna Dear, Millie Turner, Emily Hollinshead.
