Blackburn Rovers ran out 4-0 winners over Bradford City to take over the leadership of the FAWPL Northern Division.
Faye McCoy headed Rovers into a first half lead which was trebled before the break by further goals from Lynda Shepherd and Ella Toone. Natasha Fenton rounded off a great day for Gemma Donnelly's side as she added the final goal deep into injury time.
Middlesbrough had started the day on top of the table but they are back in second place after going down to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Nottingham Forest. Andi Bell scored the only goal of the game with seventeen minutes remaining to hand Forest their second win in three matches.
Leicester City Women have completed a quartet of clubs on nine points, thanks to a 2-1 victory over West Bromwich Albion. Lauren Impey gave Leicester a first half lead which was cancelled out after the break by Kelly Darby, but a late goal from Kayleigh Hillier ensured that Leicester have now won three games in a row.
Newcastle Utd got off the mark for the season in some style, beating Huddersfield Town 6-2. Sophie Williams led the scoring with a hat-trick, Shannon Eterington weighed in with a brace and Mollie Lambert was also on target, with Kate Mallin and Isabel Thomas replying.
