Six shooting Spurs stay on top
 Women's Football News 19 Sep 2016
Tottenham Hotspur maintained their lead of two points at the top of the FAWPL Southern Division after returning from Lewes with a 6-1 victory under their belts.
Bianca Baptiste hit a hat-trick for Spurs with one each from Kelley Blanchflower, Nikita Whinnett and Wendy Martin, while the Rookettes' consolation came from Rebecca Carter.
Charlton Athletic remain close at hand in second place, thanks to a 3-0 success away to Swindon Town. Jenny Newman and Avilla Bergin put the Addicks two ahead inside the opening twenty minutes, before Newman netted her second to wrap up the win with fifteen minutes remaining.
Crystal Palace are up into third, their highest ever position, after running out 4-0 winners at West Ham Utd. Gemma Bryan kept up her good goalscoring form by netting twice and she was joined on the scoresheet by Megan Goss and Roschelle Shakes.
Natasha Lynch bagged a hat-trick as Coventry Utd stormed to an 8-1 victory over Portsmouth. Stephanie Smith, Maz Gauntlett, Amber Hughes, Ashleigh Neville and an own goal completed the scoring for a result which takes Coventry into the top four, with a goal from Rebekah Tonks being the only bright spot of the afternoon for Pompey.
