Buckland relishing visit of Keynsham
 Women's Football News 7 Oct 2016
Buckland Athletic are excited and enthused by having a FA Women's Premier League side come to visit them at Homers Heath in the SSE Women's FA Cup.
This game against Keynsham Town provides a huge opportunity for the club, local people and the players to experience playing against a well established Premier League side. It will be history for the football club with it being their first ever ladies FA cup appearance and one which will forever be remembered.
Buckland manager Grant Fisher said: "It's a game of which will test our metal, determination, work rate and the characters we have in the squad. We are at home and we are underdogs however, it's 95 minutes of football. I believe in my team and this group of players and we will give it everything we have got on Sunday.
"My message is clear and simple - fear no one, respect everyone and I know my team will give the club, themselves and the coaching staff at the club a performance to be proud of."
Captain Maria Warman added: "We had a strong side last season and although for many of the players they were playing at a lower league, it allowed the squad to reset and grow together as a unit. We weren't necessarily tested by our opponents last year and the scorelines showed that, but we were able to learn, grow and show some personality as a squad and gain confidence as a whole.
"We knew that pre-season we had to prepare ourselves for some harder opponents and had to accept that we could lose games seeing as we had stepped up two leagues, after being awarded the jump. We needed to work on the bond we had formed and push ourselves harder to ensure that we were up to scratch as a squad, when going up against higher league teams. We have signed some quality players this season who have slotted into the team perfectly and really strengthened areas of the side.
"We now make history and play the first women's FA cup game at Homers Heath, this Sunday against Keynsham Town. We met this team pre-season and came away with a 3-2 defeat and therefore invite the challenge to play them again, especially as this will be the first game as Buckland Ladies where we are the underdogs! We invite the supporters to come and visit the glorious Clubhouse and surrounds and we are hopeful to push through this round of the cup and embrace the chance to be drawn against new teams that we haven't played before."
