Premier League Cup holders Tottenham Hotspur swept into the Third Round with a 5-1 victory against Enfield Town.
Wendy Martin hit a hat-trick for Spurs whose other scorers were Lucia Leon and Toni-Anne Wayne, while Ellie Taladiana grabbed a consolation for last season's beaten Plate finalists.
Blackburn Rovers made it as far as the semi finals last season and they are a step closer to at least a repeat after winning 1-0 away to Newcastle Utd. The only goal of the game actually came in the first minute, Alex Taylor scoring what eventually proved to be the winner.
West Bromwich Albion continue to improve and progressed with a fine 2-1 victory against high riding Fylde Ladies. Paige Stewart scored an extra time winner for Craig Nicholls' side to add to Leigh Dugmore's earlier strike, Jenna Carroll having replied for the Coasters to take the game into the extra period.
Crystal Palace came through a tough test away to AFC Wimbledon to take their place in the last sixteen. The home side went into the game in excellent form but second half goals from strike duo Gemma Bryan and Roschelle Shakes saw Palace emerge as 2-0 victors.
Coventry Utd were given a hard battle by Denham Utd before three goals in the final quarter of the game saw them to a 3-0 victory. Ashleigh Neville opened the scoring midway through the second half, before Coventry went on to seal the result with further strikes from Jade Brook and Helen Dermody.
Chester-le-Street Town kept up their good cup run by beating Blackpool Wren Rovers 3-0. Nichole Goundry-Harvey, Laura Hockaday and Chloe Johnson were all on target for the Cestrians.
