Sunderland and County share spoils
 Women's Football News 30 Oct 2016
Sunderland 1 (Kelly 39) Notts County 1 (Williams 33)
Sunderland and Notts County battled out a 1-1 draw at the Hetton Centre which means that the Lady Pies will finish in the season in sixth place in the WSL 1 table.
Both teams started brightly but it took until the 33rd minute for the deadlock to be broken, Rachel Williams picking up on a loose ball in the area to lash a low drive into the bottom corner and put the Lady Pies ahead.
It was a goal the visitors richly deserved, but their advantage lasted all of six minutes as Emma Kelly levelled things up, rising highest to meet an Abbey Joice ball in from the left.
Jess Clarke rolled a shot against the post for Notts County in the second half and team mates Elizebeta Ejupi and Aileen Whelan both went close, while Sunderland substitute Bridget Galloway nearly stole the win late on but her 25-yard chip went just wide.
Sunderland: Hilde Gunn Olsen, Olivia Watt, Stephanie Bannon, Hayley Sharp, Abby Holmes, Emma Kelly (sub Keira Ramshaw 85mins), Kelly McDougall, Madelaine Hill, Beverly Leon, Abbey Joice (sub Danielle Brown 90mins), Beth Mead (sub Bridget Galloway 80mins). Subs not used: Rachael Laws, Erika Warren.

Notts County: Megan Walsh, Danielle Buet, Jo Potter, Laura Bassett, Aivi Luik, Aileen Whelan, Jade Moore, Leanne Crichton, Angharad James, Rachel Williams (sub Elizabeta Ejupi 71mins), Jess Clarke. Subs not used: Niamh Cushin, Taome Oliver, Alice Hassall.

Attendance: 551
