Arsenal 2 (Taylor 66,72) Doncaster Rovers Belles 0
Arsenal and England striker Jodie Taylor was thrilled to put the frustrations of an injury-hit FA Women's Super League campaign behind her, after two goals on her return to action were enough to down Doncaster Rovers Belles.
The 30-year-old was introduced on the hour with Arsenal in control, and broke the deadlock just six minutes later with a close range finish from left back Emma Mitchell's cross.
But Taylor was not done there as she struck home the loose ball after keeper Anna Moorhouse had blocked an Alex Scott shot to double her tally, and keep Arsenal's slim chance of a Champions League place alive ahead of Chelsea's evening meeting with Reading.
The bottom-of-the-table Belles meanwhile were level pegging for the first hour but again left Boreham Wood empty handed, with defender Rhiannon Roberts coming closest when she had a 34th minute header saved by goalkeeper Sari van Veenendaal.
But one huge positive for Doncaster was the return of striker Courtney Sweetman-Kirk, who was also making her first appearance of the season after a complicated ankle injury.
