Blackburn Rovers continue to set the pace in the Northern Division after they defeated Bradford City 4-2.
Ella Toone scored twice along with a Lynda Shepherd penalty and Ellie Cook, while Lucy Sowerby and Ellie Olds replied for Bradford.
Middlesbrough made sure of staying on Blackburn's heels, three points behind, with a 2-1 success away to Huddersfield Town. The home side went into the game on a good run of form but despite them taking the lead through a first half own goal, 'Boro battled back after the break and two late strikes from Rebekah Bass earned them a valuable win.
Fylde Ladies lost ground in third place when they went down to their second defeat of the season, 2-0 at the hands of fast improving Stoke City. Goals from Ashleigh Hayes and Natasha Lilly completed a good week for Stoke, who had beaten Nottingham Forest 5-1 in midweek, and they are up into a mid-table position.
Newcastle Utd meanwhile claimed an important 1-0 win against Leicester City and although they remain at the foot of the table, they are only one point adrift of the teams above them. Steph Ord scored the only goal of the game for Newcastle, on the stroke of half time.
