The draw for the Euro 2017 Finals in the Netherlands took place this week and there is a strong 'local derby' feeling amongst the matches that will be played.
Scotland will take part in their first ever major Finals and their first opponents will be…England. Both British nations have been drawn in the same group and will meet first up, with Spain and Portugal being their other opponents.
The host nation will have to play Belgium and there is also an all-Scandinavian affair with Norway meeting Denmark. Group B will open up with the first meeting between two of the powerful countries in Europe with Germany commencing their defence of the title against Sweden.
The tournament will open up on Sunday 16th July and Holland take on Norway in the opening match, whilst Denmark are up against Belgium. England and Scotland will have to wait for the final round of fixtures on each occasion, due to having been drawn in Group D.
This is the first time that as many as sixteen nations will compete in the Finals of the tournament, having previously been eight up until 2005, and twelve in the previous two Championships in 2009 and 2013.
