Gornal Ladies are in the midst of an excellent run in the SSE Women's FA Cup and this week they face their biggest challenge yet when they play away to Radcliffe Olympic in the Fourth Round Qualifying.
The Birmingham County Women's League side reached this stage with a win over Stourbridge in the last round and manager Scott McKee is hopeful that they can continue their progression on Sunday.
"Gornal Ladies was set up only last season and due to my history of women's football I managed to recruit players from previous teams I've managed," he said. "We finished runners-up in Division Two in our first season. We are currently undefeated in any league or cup games, beating some pretty good opposition in the FA Cup and friendlies. The team ranges from seventeen up to my senior player of mid-thirties, we train once a week and play at a private pitch.
"Gemma Hammil Moss is my assistant manager and she brought an amazing dimension to the team, injecting a strict training regime which the players like, as we discuss the team she's always up for new ideas and is a breath of fresh air.
"The game against Radcliffe Olympic will be a great test for the team. I'm looking forward to the game as there is no pressure on us, but we are going with the mind set we could win this, all I ask that the team do their best and you never know."
"I was made captain this year and relish the responsibility," added Sarah Hammil Moss. "I'm very happy with the team's enthusiasm and willingness to win, Scott has got us all working together and the team's morale is off the charts!"
Beth Arrowsmith commented: "I love playing for Gornal Ladies, I've played for some good teams but this is the best one I've played for. I love my girls!"
