Leicester City Women and Fylde Ladies are in fourth and third respectively after they fought out a 1-1 draw.
Both goals came during the first half, Hannah Forster giving the Coasters the lead after six minutes and Leicester equalising through Alex Madden shortly before half time.
Huddersfield Town and Nottingham Forest produced a higher scoring draw when they shared six goals. Forest led at half time through a goal from Katie McLoughlin, before Huddersfield turned things around with Danielle Biglin and Emily Heckler putting them in front. Annabel McKechnie and Andi Bell then scored in a three minute spell to send Forest back ahead again but with eight minutes remaining, Debbie Hastings levelled matters for Huddersfield once more and both sides had to settle for a point.
The two teams who started the day in the bottom two met each other in an important clash and it was West Bromwich Albion who emerged as 2-1 winners over Newcastle Utd, a result which moves them up the table. Sophie Williams gave Newcastle the lead via a free kick, before Olivia Mitcham equalised for Albion and Leigh Dugmore scored what proved to be the decider on the hour. However the game was marred by a serious injury suffered by Newcastle's Ellen Turnbull.
