Norwich City emerged as winners from a penalty shootout to book their place in the First Round of the SSE Women's FA Cup, after battling out a 3-3 draw with Lowestoft Town.
Lowestoft led at half time through a Gemma Moore goal which had been scored direct from a corner, but Norwich turned the game around after the break and strikes in a ten minute spell from Paige Shorten and Natasha Snelling saw them in front. Lowestoft responded once again with Abbie Everson levelling matters once more and neither side could find a winner in normal time. It was Lowestoft who struck first in extra time when Cassie Craddock put them ahead once again and this time, Norwich struck back and with eight minutes remaining, Chelsea Garrett scored to take the game to penalties. Norwich went on to win 4-3 in the shootout and this earns them a home tie in the next round against AFC Wimbledon.
Plymouth Argyle meanwhile defeated Basingstoke Town 3-1 and will already be in the Second Round draw due to them receiving a bye in the next stage. All of the goals came during the second half, Natasha Knapman opening the scoring before going on to add a second and Becky Atkins netted the third, with Megan James grabbing a consolation for Basingstoke.
Keynsham Town were 2-1 winners away to Chichester City, to avenge their defeat by the Sussex side at the same stage last season. Justine Lorton-Radburn and Cristina Vega Leandro scored the goals for Keynsham, with Chichester replying through Jess Lewry (see match report).
