Northern Division leaders Middlesbrough were stunned by going down to a 5-1 defeat at the hands of Stoke City, who gave outgoing manager Andrew Frost the perfect leaving present.
Frost is stepping down from the role after five years in charge to take up a new full time role within the men's club's academy in the new year but saw his team put on one of their best performance, Ashleigh Hayes scoring four times and Kate Asher the other to take their team into fifth place in the table, with Emily Scarr notching a consolation for 'Boro.
West Bromwich Albion jumped out of the bottom two places by running out 5-0 winners over Newcastle Utd. Albion led by two goals at half time, courtesy of Trina Greaves and an own goal, before Leigh Dugmore struck twice within a minute to double their advantage. Abi Cottam rounded off the scoring for Craig Nicholls' side with the final goal, with five minutes remaining.
