SSE Women's FA Cup - Road to the Final
Keynsham Town safely negotiated a potential 'banana skin' of a tie in the last round when they defeated Regents Park Rangers 6-1, courtesy of hat-tricks from Yasmin Pratt and Katie Cook.
Barrie Newton's side face another long trip in the Second Round to play C & K Basildon who enter the competition at this stage.
Originally formed in 2002 as part of Basildon United Ladies FC, the club split in 2004 to become Basildon Town Ladies FC, re-naming themselves as C & K Basildon Ladies FC in 2007. This has led to a run of League and Cup success throughout the club. After twice finishing as runners-up in their division in the Essex County Women's League, they won the league title in 2009-10 and promotion to the Eastern Region League, where they finished as Division One South Champions at the first attempt, as well as winning the League Plate.
C & K were runners-up in the Premier Division the following season but in 2012-13, they were crowned League Champions and also won the Essex County Cup for the first time. They were to finish second in the South East Combination a year later, whilst also winning the Fgura (Malta) triangular tournament, and a re-organisation of the leagues that summer saw them placed in South East Division One of the new look FA Women's Premier League.
They made a successful start by lifting the South East Division One title, as well as winning the Mgarr (Malta) triangular tournament and the Essex County Cup for the second time. Last season was one of consolidation in the Southern Division but the county cup was successfully retained.
C & K Basildon pride themselves on being a friendly, family club, where they feel hard work and dedication can be matched with fun and enjoyment. In their ranks, they have players who have played at the top level, including full internationals. These are supplemented by many players who have played at a senior level and many players who have represented their County.
Manager is Steve Tilson, the former Southend United and Lincoln City manager, who is assisted by Danny Greaves, the former Southend United player whilst Alan Richards, a Level 2 coach and Level 3 F A Physio, is Therapist. They are further supported by a goalkeeping coach in Lee Harrison (a seasoned League player with over 450 appearances in the Football League and the current Southend United first team goalkeeper coach). The team is captain by Zoe Rushen, who is also leading goalscorer.
