Swans maintain one point lead
Women's Football Wales Premier League News - 9 Jan 2017
Swansea City maintained their lead at the top of the Orchard Welsh Premier Women's League with a 5-0 victory over Port Talbot Town.
Jodie Passmore opened the scoring for the Swans who added further goals through Alicia Powe and Stacey John ahead of half time. Sophie Hancocks and Ria Hughes rounded off the scoring to complete a result which keeps Ian Owen's side one point ahead.
Abergavenny Women got back to winning ways and their 4-0 success away to Aberystwyth Town means they stay hard on the heels of leaders Swansea. Kate Jeremiah netted a goal in each half and she was joined on the scoresheet by Gabi Hughes and Lyndsey Davies.
Cardiff City FC remain in fourth after being pegged back to a 2-2 draw by Cyncoed Ladies in their local derby. Lauren Lyons gave City a first half lead which was cancelled out by Gwen Davies, before Lyons put them back in front going into half time. With fifteen minutes remaining, Nicola Cousins equalised once again to earn Cyncoed a share of the spoils and preserve their unbeaten away record in the league this season.
Llandudno are a single point behind Cyncoed in sixth place after they defeated Briton Ferry Llansawel 3-1. Katie Bowe and Kelsey Davies ensured that Llandudno led by two goals at the break and although Renee Day reduced the arrears for Briton Ferry, Bowe netted her second midway through the second half to seal victory for her side.
