Swansea City have struck a large blow in the Orchard Welsh Premier Women's League title race with a 2-1 victory over reigning Champions Cardiff Met Ladies.
The Swans took a first half lead through a deflected shot from Katy Hosford and Lowri Ridings added the second midway through the second half. Erin Murray pulled one back for Met with three minutes remaining but Swansea held on for an important result which preserves their lead of four points at the top of the table.
Abergavenny Women made sure of staying on Swansea's heels by winning 3-0 away to Rhyl Ladies. Kate Jeremiah netted two first half goals and Lyndsey Davies rounded off the scoring after the break to get her side back to winning ways.
Cardiff City FC moved up into third place on the back of a 10-1 victory over Port Talbot Town. Danielle Green hit a first half hat-trick for City along with Jenni Buckley and Siobhan Walsh and after the break, Shannon Evans added a treble of her own, while Danielle Broadhurst and Lisa Owen also got on the scoresheet. Vicky Stratton netted a consolation for Port Talbot with fifteen minutes remaining.
Aberystwyth Town climbed back up the table after they defeated Briton Ferry Llansawel 3-1. Sian Evans ensured that Aber led at half time before further goals from Ffiona Evans and Amy Jenkins sealed the points, Angela Ninian replying late on.
