Huddersfield Town booked their place in the Final of the Premier League Plate on Sunday with a 6-1 victory over Actonians Ladies in their semi final.
We talked to Huddersfield's hot shot striker Emily Heckler, who scored a hat-trick in the win against Actonians. Whilst staying open minded about who their opponents in the Final will be, she admitted that the main focus is to go one better than when they beaten at the same stage three years ago:
WSS: Many congratulations on your semi final victory on Sunday, how does it feel to be in a major cup final?
EH: Exciting, we have worked hard to be here. We were in this position a few years ago where we lost in the final. We know what it feels like but we're here to be on the winning side this time.
WSS: You went into the game as favourites but must have been pleased with your first half performance in particular?
EH: Of course we were, we had a game plan, our coaches have worked on the opposition and we executed the game plan brilliantly.
WSS: You will have to wait and see if you play Leicester City or Lewes in the Final, presumably it will be tough whichever team you play?
EH: I don't mind who we get. On our day we are so tough to play against, no matter which team we play we have both made the final and deserve so much credit. I am looking forward to it.
WSS: Looking beyond the semi final, how pleased have you been with the team's recent form?
EH: We have been brilliant, game plans and a differentiation of roles that we have all played strong in for each individual wins games.
WSS: This week you have another semi final against Sheffield Wednesday in the County Cup and you will be favourites again, do you think a similar approach to the game will be needed?
EH: Each game is different in many ways. We know what Sheffield Wednesday have and another game plan at training is being worked on. Another semi final with plenty of goals I hope!
WSS: In the league, you are only four points behind third place, do you think a top half place is a reasonable aim?
EH: I think with the team we have it's expected, we have fantastic individuals and as a team we get better each week. We will continue to work hard and work hard in games to get the three points.
WSS: Given your cup runs this season, do you now see it as being very important that you lift a trophy?
EH: Of course, that's why we all play to win, a trophy in the Plate and the County Cup would be brilliant and deserved with this team and coaching staff.
Our thanks to Emily!
