Blackburn Rovers are two points away from clinching the Northern Division title following their dramatic 3-2 success away to West Bromwich Albion.
Rovers led at half time through a goal from Ellie Stewart and Ella Toone added a second after the break, looking to put their side on their way to victory. However, Albion staged a fine comeback with goals in a five minute spell from Olivia Mitcham and Trina Greaves levelling the scores, but deep into injury time, Jess Holbrook grabbed a winning goal to move Blackburn ever closer to their target.
Fylde Ladies are back in the top three after they won 1-0 against Nottingham Forest, who stay in the bottom two. Laura Walker scored the only goal of the game during the first half to move the Coasters several places up the table.
A win would have taken Stoke City third but they went down to a 4-3 defeat at the hands of Derby County, who have gone level on points with them. The scoreline did not tell the full story though as Stoke raced into a three-goal lead during the first half thanks to Hollie Gibson, Ashleigh Hayes and Kate Asher. Melissa Johnson reduced the arrears early in the second half, with Lisa Giampalma and Johnson again scoring to bring things level. Both teams then went close to scoring before Nicole Ledgister netted what proved to be the winner with nine minutes remaining.
