Stoke City claimed their ninth Staffordshire FA Ladies Challenge Cup crown in a row with a 5-0 victory over Sporting Khalsa Development in the Final at Brocton.
Having beaten Sporting Khalsa's first team in the quarter finals, Stoke knew they would be coming into the game confident of success.
The first half began with the Potters dominant in possession but Khalsa were tight in defence and were closing down their opponents at every opportunity, restricting them to long range efforts throughout the first period but unable to hit the target.
With Khalsa being urged on by their supporters, they were holding firm until Jamilla Palmer headed the holders in front from a corner and their uphill task just became a little more difficult.
To be fair to a very young side, their heads did not drop and although they were thankful to Phoebe Carter tipping a close range shot onto the bar shortly after the opening goal, there were very few clear chances for Stoke before the break and they went in just 1-0 down after 45 minutes.
The second half was to start badly for Khalsa though with Millie Elson doubling the advantage just a couple of minutes after the restart and, as the game began to open up, Stoke added a third and fourth with Kelsey Richardson on 68 minutes and Harriet Wellings on 70 minutes putting the result beyond doubt.
A late fifth from Cassie Hyde was harsh on a Sporting Khalsa side who had played with spirit and determination throughout the 90 minutes and gave a great account of themselves against the best women's team in Staffordshire - the future is certainly bright for the side from Willenhall.
With Stoke claiming their ninth title on the trot, the question will be who can end their dominance of this competition?
Thanks to all supporters who came along to support their respective teams and thanks also to Brocton Football Club for the use of their facilities.
