Tottenham Hotspur have taken up the running once again and have a lead of three points after results generally went in their favour on Sunday.
Spurs needed to come from behind to win 2-1 against Crystal Palace, the prolific Gemma Bryan having given Palace the lead with nine minutes on the clock. Bianca Baptiste and Wendy Martin both scored to earn Tottenham another valuable victory and inflict only a third defeat of the season on Palace.
Cardiff City Ladies returned into second place on the back of a 5-1 victory away to Portsmouth. Kerry Bartlett and Chloe Chivers each netted doubles and Laura Williams was also on target for the South Wales side, with Samantha Quayle scoring a late consolation for the home side.
Coventry Utd and Charlton Athletic meanwhile battled out a 1-1 draw which did neither team any favours in their title challenges. The Addicks led for most of the game through a 12th minute goal from Avilla Bergin but Coventry hit back late on and in the dying minutes, Jade Brook scored what could yet turn out to be a vital goal in her side's season.
Lewes are continuing to finish the season in great form and they have leapfrogged C & K Basildon into sixth place after beating them 3-0. Georgia Bridges gave the Rookettes an early lead which was doubled by Sian Heather just before half time. Bridges completed a good result for Lewes when she scored her second goal, five minutes from time.
